We remember back when we were young. We remember ARPANET (pre-Internet) and the first virus, the “Creeper and Reaper.” There were only a few single purpose virus scans and then, in 1987, McAfee released their first version. Over the next decade or so we saw e-mails hit the market and solutions to encrypt and decrypt. We saw the evolution of routers and firewalls and companies being audited so no one could get into their network. We remember providing security audits where we literally turned over the keyboard, looked in desk drawers and under the desk where we would find user’s passwords. Things have changed a lot since then. We live in an age of uncertainty and the last thing any business needs are cyber criminals to cripple its company.
